25 сентября состоялось открытие памятной доски на доме, где жил известный наставник спортивных талантов, детский тренер-общественник, участник Великой Отечественной войны, ветеран спорта РСФСР, Отличник физической культуры и спорта, Почетный гражданин г.Новозыбкова Петр Григорьевич Платонов.
Многие нынешние и бывшие спортсмены, те, кто прошел школу дворовых команд «дяди Пети», как любовно называли этого человека, до сих пор с нескрываемой благодарностью и уважением вспоминают годы, проведенные под его наставничеством.
П.Г. Платонов стал одним из первых в городе человеком, который не только занимался с начинающими любителями мяча и шайбы, но и стал организатором строительства множества спортивных площадок. Сейчас трудно перечислить все хоккейные коробки, которые были возведены под его непосредственным руководством и силами его учеников и добровольных помощников. Учащиеся школы-интерната, школ №3, №1 и №9 помнят никогда не пустовавшие зимой катки, где ежедневно тренировались команды всех возрастных групп. И все они были под наблюдением одного человека. А взрослые команды под его руководством: «ЖРУ», «Автомобилист» и «Спартак», спортивная база которых находилась во дворе и в подвале дома по ул Первомайской, были не только непременным участниками городских первенств, но и регулярно занимали призовые места и даже становилась чемпионами города. Детские хоккейные города под его руководством были неоднократными участниками всесоюзных соревнований «Золотая шайба», выходили в финал этого турнира и привозили награды из Москвы и других городов.
Петр Григорьевич Платонов не только воспитал целую плеяду молодых спортсменов, отметившихся в большом футболе и хоккее, но и помогал воспитанию многих качеств, которые потом развились в его учениках: трудолюбие, честность, ответственность, взаимовыручка, уважение к старшим. Среди них были и такие известные в городе спортсмены как хоккеисты Александр Подгаецкий и Андрей Странишевский.
Решением городского Совета за большие заслуги в общественной деятельности на благо города ему посмертно было присвоено звание Почетного гражданина Новозыбкова.
На митинга в честь этого события собралось много людей, для которых были памятны дела этого человека. Среди них члены городского Совета народных депутатов, Общественной палаты, работники администрации, представители Совета веранов, преподаватели, бывшие и действующие спортсмены, учащиеся спортшкол, просто те, кому был известен этот человек. Выступили глава города Новозыбкова Александр Матвеенко; депутат городского совета народных депутатов, тренер хоккейной команды г. Новозыбкова Александр Пусев; секретарь совета ветеранов спорта г. Новозыбкова Евгений Письменный. К инициаторам мероприятия с словом благодарности обратилась и Галина Петровна Портная (Платонова), дочь Петра Григорьевича. Именно им и было предоставлено право снять покрывало с мемориальной доски.
После возложения цветов и коллективных снимков на память, ветераны спорта встретились с родными и близкими П.Г. Платонова, поделились своими воспоминаниями, выразили взаимную признательность за сохранение архивов и документов о честном и хорошем человеке, патриоте своего города, память о котором будет жить в сердцах всех, кто его знал.
